The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested a teenager in connection with a shooting that injured one person in Brandon.
On August 12, 2026, at 9:03 p.m., deputies responded to an apartment complex on the 1200 block of Landon Preserve Circle in reference to a firearm being discharged in public.
When deputies arrived, they located one victim who had been shot in the arm. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Detectives identified the suspect as Key’rion Sincere Austin, 17.
Through the investigation, detectives determined Austin fired shots at another group of individuals in the area. The victim, a bystander with no connection to the groups, was struck by gunfire.
Deputies arrested Austin on August 13, 2026.
"Age doesn't matter when you fire a gun into a group of people. What matters is that someone innocent got hurt," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This teenager made a choice that could have cost someone their life. Our detectives worked diligently to identify the suspect and get him off our streets. We remain committed to holding juvenile offenders accountable, just as we would anyone else who endangers this community."Austin faces the following charges:
- Aggravated Battery Deadly Weapon
- Attempted Murder in the Second Degree Firearm - Great Bodily Harm
- Possession of Weapon During the Commission of Felony
- Improper Exhibition of a Dangerous Weapon or Firearm
- Discharge Firearm in Public or on Residential Property
- Minor in Possession of a Firearm
