Criminal Investigations Division

Major Preston Hollis is currently the Division Commander for the Criminal Investigations Division. Major Hollis is a native Floridian, and was born and raised in Tampa. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Florida State University in 2000. He graduated from the Florida Police Corps in September of 2001.

Major Hollis began his career with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in 2001 as a patrol deputy for seven years. During that time, he was a Field Training Deputy for three years before he was promoted to Detective in 2007. From 2007-2014, Major Hollis worked as a detective in a variety of fields, including domestic violence, crimes against children, homicide, and Professional Standards/Internal Affairs. Major Hollis was promoted to Corporal in 2014, and spent a year as a supervisor of the Field Training squad for Patrol District I, before transferring back to Professional Standards in 2015. In 2016, Major Hollis was promoted to Sergeant and remained as a supervisor in Professional Standards/Internal Affairs. Major Hollis was promoted to Lieutenant in 2018, where he was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division (CID). In 2019, Major Hollis was promoted to the rank of Captain and remained in CID as the Deputy Division Commander until his transfer to District III in 2020 and transfer to the Criminal Investigations Division in 2023.
