Subpoenas By Mail

Effective October 1, 2020, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will begin mailing certain types of subpoenas that in the past have been hand-delivered by a Civil Process Server. This is being done in an effort to streamline the process of subpoena services during the ongoing pandemic and ensure that taxpayer funds are being utilized in the most efficient manner possible.

It is important to remember that a subpoena received by mail from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will never instruct you to remit payment to anyone. You will only be directed to appear in court.

Subpoenas are court orders that must be followed. If you receive a subpoena in the mail and are unsure of its validity, please contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Civil Process Section at 813-242-5200 or the Clerk of the Circuit Court at www.hillsclerk.com
