Amanda Granit, Chief Communications Officer

Public Affairs Office

Amanda Granit serves as the Chief Communications Officer for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), where she leads all facets of media relations, public information, and internal and external communications. She joined #teamHCSO in March 2019 and was promoted to Chief in August 2022.

As Chief Communications Officer, Amanda oversees the agency’s comprehensive communications strategy—advancing Sheriff Chad Chronister’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and community engagement. She directs efforts to strengthen public trust through proactive storytelling, responsive crisis communication, and consistent messaging that highlights the work and dedication of HCSO’s deputies and professional staff.

Before joining the Sheriff’s Office, Amanda spent nearly a decade as an award-winning journalist. Her investigative reporting in New York State exposed government waste and mismanagement, earning her both a New York State Emmy Award and a National Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in journalism.

Amanda is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. She also holds a Certificate in Applied Business Science with a concentration in AI Prompting from the University of South Florida, underscoring her commitment to innovation and data-driven communication strategy.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children and remains passionate about mentorship, leadership development, and helping others find purpose in public service.
