District III

Major Michael Kuettner serves as Division Commander for District III.

He began his career with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in 2003, working as a deputy and detective in Patrol, Street Crimes, and the District I Intelligence Unit. By 2013, he was promoted to Corporal, serving as a Field Training supervisor in District II and later as Administrative Corporal to the Colonel of Patrol Services.

In 2015, Major Kuettner advanced to Sergeant in the Training Division before moving to District V Patrol as a Field Training supervisor. Three years later, he rose to Lieutenant, overseeing Field Training in Districts I and III. Promoted to Captain in 2022, he remained at District I as Deputy Division Commander and later held the same role in the Special Investigations, Homeland Security, and Criminal Investigations Divisions.

A proud University of South Florida graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, Major Kuettner is also a graduate of the 79th Session of the Senior Management Institute for Police. His career reflects a steady climb through the ranks, driven by leadership, innovation, and a commitment to the community he serves.
