The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, along with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, has arrested the man responsible for a Tampa shooting.
On September 11, 2025, Jontavis Williams, 41, shot his mother's neighbor, with whom she had been arguing. When deputies arrived on the 12800 block of Beddington Court, they found the victim suffering from serious injuries from a single gunshot wound.
On November 13, 2025, Williams was located in Tampa and was taken into custody for his outstanding arrest warrant related to this shooting.
He was charged with Shooting at Within or Into a Building, Felon in Possession Firearm Firearm Possess, Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm or Deadly Weapon Firearm - Discharge, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree Firearm - Great Bodily Harm.
Williams was also wanted for a Tampa Police Department investigation related to a firearm offense from October 5, 2025, and faces additional charges. Williams is a convicted felon with a prior conviction of Murder in the Second Degree.
"We will not tolerate violent offenders terrorizing our community. The fact that this convicted felon continued to carry and use a firearm shows his complete disregard for the law and public safety," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Thanks to our detectives and law enforcement partners, this dangerous criminal is behind bars."
The investigation remains ongoing. Any updates will come from the Public Affairs Office.
