Original Release:
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on December 28, 2020, deputies responded to the Campus Court Mobile Home Park for reports of a shooting. Once on scene, deputies located an adult male with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Advent Health and was pronounced dead.

Deputies say a man shot the victim and went back into his home. An adult female and five children were inside the home at the time.

HCSO's SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team worked to make contact with those inside the home, urging them to come out. Just before 2:30 a.m., everyone inside the residence exited without incident.

"I am so proud of the men and women who worked for hours overnight to bring this incident to a peaceful resolution," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Unfortunately, this is the second barricade subject situation we've been called to in the last 24 hours. While we don't yet know a motive for either of today's incidents, I want to urge anyone who may be suffering from any type of mental health issue to reach out for help. The holidays can be a difficult time, but you are not alone."

This remains an active and open investigation all updates will be released from the Public Affairs Office.
