HCSO ARRESTS TEEN IN SMOKE SHOP BURGLARY

On April 17, 2026, at approximately 6:45 a.m., #teamHCSO responded to a burglary at a smoke shop on West Hillsborough Avenue.

When deputies arrived at Atomic Smoke Shop, they discovered the front window had been shattered. Surveillance footage showed a suspect breaking the glass, forcibly entering the business, and stealing nearly $5,000 worth of merchandise, then exiting the broken window with the items in a backpack.

During the investigation, a suspect was identified. 

On April 19, 2026, detectives arrested 17-year-old Cayden Goldberg.

Goldberg faces the following felony charges:

  • Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure (x2)
  • Grand Theft Third Degree While Wearing a Mask ($750–$5,000)
  • Criminal Mischief ($1,000 or more)
“Our deputies acted swiftly to identify the suspect and hold him accountable,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. We remain committed to protecting our local businesses and ensuring those who break the law face consequences.”
