HCSO Auto Theft Unit Arrests Repeat Fleeing Suspect After Years of Evasion

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a wanted suspect who spent years evading law enforcement while endangering the public and deputies.

On June 18, 2026, members of the Auto Theft Unit located and arrested Everaldo Alvarez Borqueno, 35, who was wanted on warrants from multiple jurisdictions, including the Hernando County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Corrections.

Alvarez Borqueno has a documented history of avoiding arrest. During previous encounters with law enforcement, he fled at high rates of speed through public roadways, rammed patrol vehicles, and demonstrated a complete disregard for the safety of deputies and members of the community. Detectives also learned that Alvarez Borqueno had previously fled from deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office during an attempted apprehension.

This arrest concludes multiple investigations and years of efforts by law enforcement agencies to bring Alvarez Borqueno into custody.

"Time and again, this suspect chose to put the public at risk rather than face the consequences of his actions," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Those who believe they can evade justice by running only delay the inevitable. We will find you. Whether it takes days, months, or years, we will continue to pursue those who threaten the safety of our community and bring them to justice."

Alvarez Borqueno is facing an extensive list of felony charges spanning several years, including burglary, grand theft auto, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, criminal mischief, vehicle theft-related offenses, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and multiple violations of probation.

The attached video includes images from a 2024 incident in which Alvarez Borqueno fled from deputies while driving an orange Corvette. The second clip contains body-worn camera footage from a separate 2025 incident in which Alvarez Borqueno again evaded law enforcement. The final portion of the video shows Alvarez Borqueno's arrest by HCSO Auto Theft Unit detectives on June 18, 2026.

This remains an active investigation. Any updates will be provided by the Public Affairs Office.
