The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested two individuals after reports of gunfire.
On February 2, 2025, at 3:46 a.m., deputies responded to the 5800 block of Memorial Highway after two 911 callers reported hearing gunfire. Deputies knocked on the residence where neighbors heard the shots coming from, but no one answered the door. Deputies breached the door with dynamic entry tools since children were believed to be inside.
Deputies found an adult male, two adult females and two minor children unharmed in the apartment. While on the scene, a resident nearby reported a bullet hole in their window. Deputies found a single gunshot hole in their second-floor window that traveled through their living room wall before it came to a stop. There was one adult male and a one-year-old child in the apartment when the bullet entered.
Deputies obtained a search warrant and found shell casings and two firearms hidden underneath the bathroom vanity in the residence deputies breached. Through investigative efforts, deputies learned Faith Thomas, 26, and Donald Roberts, 28, were in a domestic violence incident.
Thomas admitted to firing the gun off the balcony in an attempt to get Roberts to leave the apartment. Roberts was arrested and charged with Battery. Thomas was also arrested and charged with Shooting at Within or Into a Building and Discharge Firearm in Public or Residential Property.
"I'm glad our deputies were able to quickly respond and make the necessary arrests," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "While domestic violence is never okay, discharging a firearm endangers other innocent lives and is never an acceptable solution."
This is an active investigation; any update will come from the Public Affairs Office.
