Before You File a Police Report Online

 

All reports submitted online are subject to public release per Florida Statute §119.

Filing a false police report is a crime.

Before filing a police report online you must verify you meet the criteria listed below:

  • Incident happened in Unincorporated Hillsborough County
  • You are 18 years or older
  • Not an emergency (Call 9-1-1 for emergencies)
  • Not an in-progress crime 
  • Not in immediate danger

After You File a Report

After you complete the police report online you will:

  • See the words "Your online police report has been submitted" showing that your police report is complete.
  • Receive a confirmation email that your report was received.

Filing Process

  • All cases filed online will be reviewed by Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
  • Upon review, if further investigation of  your case is needed, you may be contacted.

Police Report Copies

If you need an official copy of the police report you filed online, please visit our Records Request Center. There is  a 36 hour process time for review and transcription of the police report.

Add Information to a Police Report

If you have already filed a police report, either online or in person with a police officer, you can add additional information such as text, missing or stolen item details, video or picture evidence.

Before Adding More Information to Your Report

Have the following information available before adding more details to your existing police report:

  • Report number
  • Officer name who filed report
    • only if the report was taken by an officer and not filed online
    • if you are unsure of the name enter "Unknown"

Not all incidents can be filed online. If your incident is not listed in the category selection list, call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200 for non-emergencies. For all emergencies call 911.

A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the person(s) or where to find the person who committed the crime or license plate number of the vehicle that the suspect(s) were in.
If the incident happened inside the city limits of Plant City, Tampa or Temple Terrace then this is not unincorporated Hillsborough County. You would need to call the following agencies based on where the incident occurred:
