Shawn Morrey, Captain
Captain Morrey began his law enforcement career with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in 2000 as a Reserve Deputy, demonstrating an early commitment to public service and community safety. In 2001, he was hired full-time, marking the start of a distinguished career in law enforcement.
Prior to and during the early years of his law enforcement service, Captain Morrey honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1990 to 2001. Following the events of September 11, 2001, he was recalled to active duty, continuing his dedication to serving his country during a critical time.
Throughout his career with the Sheriff’s Office, Captain Morrey has gained extensive experience across a variety of specialized units. His assignments have included Patrol, Field Training Deputy (FTD), Street Crimes, General Offense Detective, Traffic Crash Investigator and DUI enforcement. After earning a promotion, he continued to expand his leadership and operational expertise by serving in Patrol, the Homeland Security Division, Community Outreach, and the Court Operations Division.
He is married and a proud father of one child, as well as a grandfather to two grandchildren, who remain a central part of his life outside of his professional service.
