Lauren Kummer, Public Relations Coordinator
Lauren Kummer joined the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in October 2025 as a Public Relations Coordinator, bringing more than seven years of experience in broadcast journalism and a passion for connecting communities through meaningful storytelling.
Before joining #teamHCSO, Lauren spent seven years working in television news as an anchor and reporter. She began her career in Kearney, Nebraska, where she spent three years before moving to Michigan and working in both Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids. Throughout her journalism career, she covered a wide range of stories, building strong connections within the communities she served while developing a deep appreciation for public service. Her experience in journalism provided her with a strong foundation in storytelling, media relations, interviewing, and communicating timely and important information to the public.
At the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Lauren works to tell the stories of the men and women who serve Hillsborough County while helping keep the community informed, engaged, and connected to its Sheriff’s Office. She is proud to support Sheriff Chad Chronister and his commitment to building trust between law enforcement and the community through transparency, accountability, and meaningful engagement.
Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Florida Gulf Coast University. During college, she studied abroad and lived in Paris, where she developed a lasting appreciation for the French language and culture. She speaks French and continues to enjoy traveling and experiencing different cultures.
Originally born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Lauren holds dual Canadian and American citizenship. After spending much of her life bundling up through Canadian winters, she was more than happy to trade in winter boots and snow for flip-flops and Florida sunshine. She now proudly calls Florida home
Outside of work, Lauren is a proud dog mom who enjoys walks, traveling, spending time with family and friends, being out on the water, exploring new places, and making the most of the Florida sunshine.
