The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested a convicted felon Wednesday afternoon after a bank robbery in Brandon.
On September 30, 2026, at 12:03 p.m., #teamHCSO deputies responded to a report of a robbery in progress at the Wells Fargo Bank at 204 South Kings Avenue.
Deputies learned that a man entered the bank, handed the teller a note demanding money, then fled on foot.
While searching the area, detectives spotted a man matching the suspect's description near Woodberry Road and Berry Lake Drive. Detectives identified him as Everett Jones, 59.
Jones was taken into custody on an active felony warrant for Failure of a Career Offender to Register or Provide Information. During an interview with detectives, Jones admitted to the robbery. He now faces an additional charge of Robbery.
"For four decades, this man has made a career out of robbery, and he's tried it again," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our detectives tracked him down, and this man’s reign of robbery is now over.”
Jones has an extensive criminal history, including robbery convictions in 1984, 2005, and 2015.
The investigation is ongoing, and any updates will come from the Public Affairs Office.
