Second arrest made in apartment complex homicide

UPDATE 2:

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a homicide that took place at a Tampa apartment complex last month.

Demon Speed, 29, was located and arrested August 9, 2022 on an out-of-county arrest warrant by the U.S. Marshalls Service in Lee County. He was charged with pre-meditated first degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm. Speed's booking photo is provided below, along with the original release.

This remains an active investigation. All further updates will be released by HCSO's Public Affairs Office.

UPDATE: 

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a homicide that took place at a Tampa apartment complex last month.

Darren Day, 25, was located and arrested today on a count of first-degree murder by the U.S. Marshals Service in Lee County. 

This remains an active investigation. All further updates will be released by HCSO's Public Affairs Office.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: 

July 22, 2022 -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that left one man dead outside of the IQ Apartments, located at 12708 Bruce B Downs Boulevard in Tampa.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on July 22, 2022, the complainant called HCSO to report an adult male victim had been shot in the parking lot of the IQ Apartments. Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspects had driven away from the scene in an unknown direction. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where despite receiving lifesaving measures, he later died.

At this time, the shooting does not appear random, as the suspects and victim are possibly known to each other.
