The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate.
Carlos Howard, 57, at the Falkenburg Road Jail, was discovered unresponsive by staff on October 3, 2026, just after 4:00 a.m. Deputies initiated life-saving measures until EMS arrived.
Howard was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased at 5:33 a.m.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
Next of Kin was notified of his death.
The Public Affairs Office will release any further updates.
