Death Investigation Underway in Tampa

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation in Tampa.

On September 22, 2026, at 7:39 a.m., a deputy was driving through the area of Sligh Avenue and 78th Street when he saw an adult female lying on the side of the road, unresponsive, with no visible signs of injury.

Once deputies and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue arrived on scene, the female was determined to be deceased.

This is an active investigation. Any updates will come from the Public Affairs Office.
