HCSO Deploys to Panhandle for Hurricane Isaias Recovery

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is deploying personnel to support recovery efforts in the Florida Panhandle following Hurricane Isaias.

On October 9, 2026, HCSO deployed two helicopter flight crews and an aviation mechanic. Members of our specialized dive team trained in water rescue and recovery will be leaving this afternoon. Both units will be staged and ready to assist as soon as the storm passes.

HCSO is responding at the request of the Florida State Emergency Operations Center to work alongside local, state, and federal partners in the affected communities.

"When our state needs help, we will always answer the call. These deputies are highly trained professionals, and I'm proud of their willingness to leave the comfort of their own families to serve other communities in need," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Just a few years ago, we were the ones asking for help after Hurricanes Helene and Milton, and agencies from across the state rallied to assist us.”

Updates on the team's deployment or on other assets being sent to support recovery efforts will come from the Public Affairs Office.
