Man Arrested in Ruskin Following Child Exploitation Investigation

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man following an investigation that led detectives to discover files of child sexual abuse material on a cell phone inside a Ruskin home.

On June 18, 2026, HCSO's Internet Predator Unit served a search warrant at a home on 9th Street Northeast in Ruskin after determining child pornography was being shared through a social media app.

As detectives were clearing the home, one resident, Maria Olguin-Chavez, 51, physically resisted and attempted to strike detectives.

During the investigation, detectives seized numerous electronic devices, including a cell phone belonging to Abelino Clavel-Olguin, 26. He repeatedly refused lawful commands to provide his passcode and attempted to delete potential evidence from his device. When detectives attempted to place Clavel-Olguin under arrest, he also physically resisted and struck a detective multiple times.

Detectives also completed a search of a device belonging to a third resident, Misael Clavel, 22, which revealed files of child sexual abuse material. Detectives also located two files depicting sexual activity involving an animal.

As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested the following three individuals:

Misael Clavel is charged with:
  • Solicitation or Possession of Child Pornography 10 or More Images and Content of Images (x100)
  • Film, Distribute, or Possess Video or Image of Sexual Activity with an Animal (x2)
  • Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device
Abelino Clavel-Olguin is charged with:
  • Obstruction of Service or Execution of Search Warrant
  • Resisting Officer with Violence
  • Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer
Maria Olguin-Chavez is charged with:
  • Resisting Officer with Violence
  • Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer
"Child sexual abuse material victimizes children and fuels further exploitation," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our detectives are relentless in identifying offenders, removing this material from circulation, and holding those responsible accountable. Anyone who possesses, shares, or attempts to conceal this evidence will face the full consequences of their actions."

This remains an active investigation. Any updates will be provided by the Public Affairs Office.
