The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting in Tampa.
On December 17, 2025, at 11:29 a.m., HCSO’s 911 Dispatch Center received a call from the Stop N Save Food Store located at 4801 Clewis Avenue, reporting that an individual entered the store stating he had been shot.
Deputies arrived on scene, and the victim was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
At 11:58 a.m., HCSO’s 911 Dispatch Center received a call from an individual stating that he was the shooter. Deputies located and detained him a short distance away.
“This type of violence has no place in our community,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We remain fully committed to keeping our residents safe and will continue working tirelessly to do so.”
At this time, detectives believe this to be an isolated incident.
The name of the victim will be released once next of kin has been notified.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Public Affairs Office will provide updates as they become available.
