Just before noon on June 3, Carl Emanuel Thomas,43, entered the Tropical Smoothie Caf located at 11011 Causeway Boulevard in Brandon and used a counterfeit credit card to conduct two separate transactions ($12.24 and $4.10).
The elderly victim whose name was on the card was unknown to Thomas. She did not realize her identity had been stolen until after the incident.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Carl Thomas. On Thursday, September 12, he was located and arrested by the Marion County Sheriff's Office. Thomas faces two charges: Fraudulent use of Personal Information of an Elderly Person and Fraudulent use of a Credit Card.
