Sheriff Chronister meets, thanks Good Samaritan in bank robbery incident

On Saturday, December 7, 2019, Sheriff Chad Chronister visited the Good Samaritan who was shot while trying to save the life of a Brink's truck driver, who had just been shot outside of GTE Financial, 101 E. Bloomingdale Ave. in Brandon on Friday.

Sheriff Chronister called him a hero and thanked him for what he did to try to stop the suspect.

The Good Samaritan, who does not want to be identified, lives in the Brandon area, is a retired Hillsborough County employee and his wife was in the bank at the time of the incident. He said if he had to do it all over again, he would.

“We are thankful for the bravery of this Good Samaritan. His actions saved the life of the Brinks truck driver who was the target of this would-be robber,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Finding this suspect is one of my top priorities. We are still actively working this investigation in coordination with the FBI.
 
The Brinks truck driver has been treated and released from the hospital.
