Today the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is recognizing both citizens and deputies who have performed extraordinary acts in recent months at the Fourth Quarter Awards Ceremony happening at Falkenburg Road Jail. The ceremony is also a time to recognize HCSO employees who are retiring and local businesses who have gone above and beyond to show their support for law enforcement in order to better their communities.

Among the award recipients is Charles Moye. During a traffic stop in September, Moye, who is employed as a security guard, noticed a passenger becoming combative with a deputy who was conducting a traffic stop. Moye worked with the deputy to detain the subject on the ground and radio for assistance. Ultimately, the driver and the passenger involved in the incident were arrested. For his heroic actions, Moye will be awarded the Citizen Award.

Master Deputy Scott Jones is one of three deputies who will be awarded the Life Saving Award. On September 15, Deputy Jones spotted a car pinned against a guard rail on northbound I-4 on his way into work. He pulled over his vehicle and rendered aide to the elderly driver, who was turning blue and did not have a pulse. Deputy Jones completed three cycles of CPR along with a good Samaritan, then an additional five cycles of CPR after a responding Florida Highway Patrolman's AED produced no results. The driver survived the ordeal thanks to Deputy Jones' quick thinking and dedication.

Media outlets are invited to attend today's event. The ceremony will also be streamed live on the HCSO Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/HCSOSheriff/
