Arrests in undercover human trafficking investigation

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister will announce the completion of an undercover investigation into human trafficking that resulted in a true victim being rescued from her captor.

A total of five people were arrested during the month of December.

"These individuals are truly the worst of the worst. They were either selling another human being for sex or seeking sex with a child," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "I can promise you, we will not stop targeting human trafficking until we put a stop to this despicable trade in Hillsborough County."

On Thursday, January 23, Sheriff Chronister will detail the arrests during a press conference at the Sheriff's Operations Center located at 2008 E 8th Avenue in Ybor City.

Ahead of the press conference, Sheriff Chronister is releasing a public service announcement (PSA) in honor of National Human Trafficking Prevention Month in January to help teach citizens how to spot a victim of human trafficking. The PSA can be viewed on the HCSO Sheriff Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDItoY6cQJY&feature=youtu.be
